On 11th June 2025, the London Tandem team welcomed 60 guests to the latest in our TANDEMTalks series of discussions around the challenges faced by asset owners and managers. Asset Management – The Environmental Challenge took place within Spacemade’s beautifully restored hidden Chapel at Elmtree in London’s Marylebone and was attended by a mix of investors, estate and asset managers and associated property managers and custodians.
Tandem’s CEO John Jones hosted the discussion which focused on our action not distraction approach and the importance of continued commitment to ESG despite challenging market conditions and a considerable disparity in the priorities of our wide variety of investor and owner client types.
Panel speakers included:
- Vivienne King, Impactful Places who spoke of the symbiosis between social impact and asset value, the secret sauce of community engagement to safeguard investment and the importance of taking a place-based approach to climate resilience and energy issues.
- Nick Strachan, Leslie Jones Architects who covered how environmental issues guide decision-making in asset management, with a particular focus on schemes in town centres. He looked at the differences between the repurposing, redevelopment or retention approaches.
- Tandem’s own ESG Director Neelum Choudhury, who set out the many non-negotiables around environmental challenges we all know we have to face and illustrated just how Tandem ‘gets on with it’ . Neelum stressed the importance of smart tech to close data gaps, meeting EPC ratings head-on, getting well ahead with your roadmap to net zero.
All our speakers stressed how proactive address of environmental challenges isn’t just the right thing to do and creates healthy environments but actually creates opportunity and drives value.
The end-of-afternoon discussion was followed by drinks and networking in the beautifully restored Chapel at Elmtree, 32 Welbeck Street in Marylebone.
