The Sir John Murray 1951 Settlement Trust has appointed Tandem as managing agents for 50 Albemarle Street in London’s Mayfair.
Tandem is delighted to have been appointed as Managing Agents for 50 Albemarle Street, a Grade II listed building with an extraordinary publishing legacy. Historically linked to John Murray, one of Britain’s most influential publishers, 50 Albemarle Street played a key role in the dissemination of works that helped define literature, science, and thought in the 18th and 19th centuries.

Tandem have provided careful and sensitive guidance for the client who have a role in the property as both Landlord and occupier. The initial consultancy role required a transition plan for Tandem to take over the excellent work of the in-house team, including refreshed compliance procedures and new planned maintenance services. A series of remedial works have been carried out under Tandem’s supervision as part of the transition plan.
Tandem’s wider instruction now encompasses full property management services for this unique asset, including tenant liaison, the implementation of a new service charge budget and the day-to-day management of this 8,500 sq ft building arranged over six floors.
With health and safety forming a key part of the role, a core focus of the instruction has been ensuring the building’s ongoing compliance, whilst remaining sensitive to its historic character.
CEO at Tandem John Jones said:
“We are delighted to be working for the Murray family on 50 Albemarle Street and look forward to the role helping to preserve and maintain the building’s heritage, ensuring it provides good quality space and amenity for years to come.”
