Tandem Staff Go All-In for Volunteering Days in 2025

This International Volunteering Day we are celebrating Tandem Property Asset Management’s National teams for their outstanding efforts volunteering with Thames21 and The Canal and River Trust this year.

Over two intensive days in June and July, 18 Birmingham-based Tandem property professionals filled and removed 23 industrial-sized waste bags from Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter Canal paths and cut back a large amount of overgrown vegetation.

On a 27-degree August day at Chiswick Eyot, 15 members of the London Tandem team helped clear Himalayan balsam, an invasive species which destroys native plants whose deep root systems are essential for stabilising the island. This was a vital step in protecting the long-term future of the island and all its local wildlife.

In October, 5 of the Leeds and Newcastle Tandem team alongside 5 of our partners at @EnvirotechFM joined forces to undertake a variety of tasks at Clarence Docks. Sean McGinley, Director, Yorkshire & North East, Canal & River Trust said:

A huge thank you to the Tandem Property team for their volunteering day with us in October! From litter picking to weeding, your energy, enthusiasm and teamwork made a visible difference both on and by the water. We are so grateful for what you achieved – and the positivity you brought with you. We hope to welcome you back again soon.

At Tandem our employees enjoy two volunteering days each year to use for a worthy cause and we are proud to support both The Canal and River Trust and Thames21’s inspiring mission to keep our waterways thriving.

Finally, congratulations to all our colleagues who slept out in London, Manchester and Leeds on Friday 3rd October as part of Action For Children’s ‘Boycott Your Bed’.

19 Tandem staff members volunteered their evening to sleep outdoors, withstanding Storm Amy, to raise £13,682.52 for vulnerable children across the UK who are living without the essentials or a safe and loving space to sleep. As National supporting Sponsors of this event, Tandem stands alongside Action for Children in making a real difference for vulnerable children and young people.
