Tandem's Social Value Report

Last week was a big moment for Tandem as we received our first carbon emissions and social value report from Planet Mark. This is a new era of data collection and reporting for Tandem but one which is crucial for any organization wishing to stay current, competitive and responsible in today’s market. As Planet Mark members we are committed to reducing our carbon emissions by a minimum 5% each year however the average reduction for Planet Mark Members is 12%.

Our focus on carbon reduction does not stop there! Tandem have also signed the UN Backed-Global campaign Race to Zero. This is a campaign aimed at rallying companies, cities, regions; as well as financial, educational, and healthcare institutions – to take rigorous and immediate action to halve global emissions by 2030 and deliver a healthier, fairer zero carbon world at the same time.

All members of Race to Zero are committed to the same overarching goal: halving carbon emissions by 2030 and achieving net zero emissions as soon as possible.

We will be hearing a lot more about climate change and reducing carbon emissions in the press over the coming weeks as the world prepares for COP26 – the 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference. COP26 is widely regarding as a crucial moment in our fight against climate change.

Commercial property accounts for around 40% of energy‐related carbon dioxide emissions and therefore we, as property professionals, have a crucial part to play in the climate change fight and we need to be aware of the discussions being held at COP26 and how they affect our clients and the properties we are responsible for.
