Supporting National Recycle Week

Last week, all the Tandem team took part in volunteer days across the UK in support of National Recycle Week.

Improving the awareness of environmental issues forms an integral part of the Tandem ethos, and as much as it’s important to talk about these issues, ‘action over words’ demonstrates our passion for making change!

Our Northern team helped out at Canal and River Trust in Leeds, litter picking, planting and undertaking vegetation maintenance.

Our Birmingham Accounts team picked up litter in the area surrounding the Custard Factory in Digbeth.

Our London team and Envirotech FM's helped out with Thames 21 to pick up wet wipes and plastic bags that had been left behind on the foreshore.

We were pleased to learn that the volume of plastic bags been washed ashore has decreased over the last 5-10 years. The introduction of the 5p cost to single use plastic carrier bags has had a huge impact on the volume of plastic waste found. It’s encouraging to see that campaigns that focus on adapting customer habits, and improving the awareness of health implications when digesting microplastics is impacting how people view plastic waste!
