Supporting National Apprenticeship Week

As part of National Apprenticeship week, we caught up with Tandem's first ever apprentice 'Caius Deb' who joined us in November last year

  • What helped you decide to start an apprenticeship at Tandem?

I always wanted to work collectively with a finance department in order to see how a finance team effectively maximises business; and what better opportunity is there than gaining hands on experience in a property asset management company that works with clients across the UK.

  • What’s been the highlight of your time at Tandem so far?

There have been a variety of great moments at Tandem: from simply working alongside great colleagues in the finance department, to learning how to operate new finance systems, i.e. MRI Qube. I have particularly enjoyed using this finance system by carrying out financial payment runs on behalf of the property managers in the company.

  • What sort of things have you learned?

I am always learning new things at Tandem. One of the main things I have learnt is utilising different finance systems, i.e. MRI Qube and Yardi Voyager, in order to carry out a vast number of diverse tasks such as processing invoices, conducting manual payments, managing queries with suppliers etc. This enables Tandem’s business to operate effectively and as a result of this, Tandem can continue to deliver a high quality service for its clients.

  • Would you recommend apprenticeships as a way of starting a career?

Yes, it is a great way to start a career as you gain first hand experience in an industry that you are interested in working in. Working at Tandem and gaining a greater insight into the business’ roles has made myself significantly more curious about the property asset management industry as a whole.
